I started my journey in conformation when I purchased my first show dog in 1995, an adorable little Pug we called Sunny (Ch. Rawhide’s Radiant Sunshine). Her breeder only agreed to sell her to me if I showed her to her championship. I had no clue on how to do it so I started coming to the Chief Solano Kennel Club conformation classes in 1996. I subsequently took classes from several other professional handlers to round out my knowledge. I went on to breed several litters over the years with other dogs I purchased and bred and produced several more champions.

I wanted to apply to judge Pugs in 2012 so I asked the teacher of the CSKC conformation classes if I could help out so I could also apply to judge Junior Showmanship. He readily agreed and before long I took over teaching the class, which I have been doing ever since. I absolutely love helping new exhibitors learn to show, like I was helped so many years ago, and encourage Juniors as well, also those exhibitors who are training new puppies for show. It’s always nice every week when we do our “brags” to hear about all the wins, especially new champions!

I have had to privilege to judge Pugs and Juniors since 2014 and I am currently “owned” by a seven year old Pug named Dolce.
