Our Place In The Community
And In The Dog Fancy
Our community involvement includes:
1. conducting dog training classes at the Elmira Fire Department,
2. providing informational show cases at various public functions (e.g., Vacaville Kid Fest, Woofstock, and SCARF),
3. providing dog reference books to all Solano County libraries.
We have members who are AKC Canine Ambassadors for AKC's Canine Ambassador Program, a program that enables local dog club members, accompanied by their dogs, to share their knowledge regarding dogs and proper care by making presentations, to children -- in classrooms, at libraries, in after-school programs, at Boy/Girl Scout meetings, etc., -- on various topics related to the world of purebred dogs in conjunction with AKC's Best Friends Program. Best Friends is a children's education program for grades K through 6 that builds on a child's natural love of dogs (and pets in general) and explores the concept of responsibility by discussing the realities involved in owning a dog -- from feeding and grooming to training and veterinary care.
We have members who are AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program Evaluators for AKC's CGC Program, a two part program that is designed to:
1. teach responsible dog ownership to owners.
2. certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well-behaved members of their families and communities.

As a club, we are members of:
1. The American Dog Owners Association (ADOA), a non-profit organization working to protect the breeding and exhibiting of dogs as non-commercial ventures, and engage in educational and legislative activities to promote the welfare of dogs.
2. Take the Lead, a non-profit organization that provides direct services support and care for people in the sport of purebred dogs who suffer the devastation of life-threatening or terminal illness.
